John McMurtry
Vice President of Development Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation
John McMurtry brings to the foundation a background in exercise science as well as business. McMurtry, who served as coach and director of athletic development for the US Ski Team during the most successful period of the team's history, first worked with Dr. Steadman in South Lake Tahoe developing fitness and rehabilitation protocol for Dr. Steadman's patients. In 1995, McMurtry was inducted into the Colorado Ski Hall of Fame.
McMurtry holds a Bachelor's degree in political science as well as a Master's Degree in exercise science from the University of Denver. He also holds and MBA from Westminster College of Salt Lake City. McMurtry is a member of the Vail-Eagle Valley Rotary Club, where he has served as both a board member and president. He has also served as chairman of the Charitable Foundation of the Rotary Club of Eagle-Vail Valley and received the Distinguished President citation from Rotary International in 2002. McMurtry's other board of director services include the Eagle County School to Career Council, Ski Club Vail and the Colorado Ski and Snowboard Museum and Hall of Fame.
