Arvind Ramanujam
Staff Scientist
Arvind received his B.E. (Bachelors of Engineering) degree in Instrumentation Engineering from one of the premier schools in the University of Mumbai - India, V.E.S. Institute of Technology. He arrived in the United States of America in September 2004 to pursue his Masters in the field of Biomedical Engineering at Drexel University, Philadelphia. In the Summer of 2005, while still being a student at Drexel, Arvind did his Summer Internship at the Baylor College of Medicine (Texas Medical Centre), Houston – Texas performing research in the field of Respiratory Biomechanics, specifically diaphragm mechanics. He joined the Biomechanics research team at the Steadman Hawkins Research Foundation in Spring 2006 and since then has been with the foundation, actively involved in 3D human motion analysis with Motion Capture/Analysis Systems and 3D-Inverse Dynamics.
Arvind’s research interests are in the field of Biomechanics – specifically Sports Medicine, Motion Capture Systems (Motion Analysis) and Orthopaedic Biomechanics. He also has experience with Finite Element Analysis and Modeling/Simulation. He has a fascination towards a variety of sports and hence enjoys his research in the field of Sports Medicine. His hobbies are Sports (Cricket, Soccer, Badminton), A Capella (music without instruments) and he loves painting.
